Frequently Asked Questions:

What do you charge?

I offer a 15 minute free phone call or video call to help us decide if we want to work together and thereafter I charge £50 per session.  Payment is made in advance by bank transfer.  I can only refund cancellations if they are made with more than 48 hour's notice.

Where are you based?

I work from an attractive and comfortable counselling space on the outskirts of Ringmer, East Sussex, UK, in a residential setting.  My counselling space is self-contained with a private entrance and has blinds for extra privacy.

Is it confidential?

Everything said in my sessions is completely confidential, and any notes taken are anonymised and password protected.  The only exception to this would be if I felt there was a safeguarding issue, i.e. there was risk of serious harm to either yourself or another. Where possible, before breaking confidentiality I would then an open  discussion with you before breaking confidentiality, to make sure you were properly protected and supported. Only those that needed to know would be informed of my concerns.

By law I am required to report any disclosure of money laundering or potential terrorism to the appropriate authorities. I would not be able to discuss this with you before I reported it.

I am registered with the ICO and abide by their standards.

If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints about how I handle, store, or process your personal data or therapy records, please contact me in writing at counsellinglucia@gmail.com. I will review and respond to your concern as promptly as possible.

If you feel that your concern has not been resolved, you have the right to raise the matter with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection. You can do this via their website at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or by calling 0303 123 1113.

Can I see you virtually?

Yes.  I offer sessions over the telephone and on video conference and face to face.

Do you have disabled access?

I will do my best to accommodate where possible. I recognise that equal opportunities are fundamental. Where I can't accommodate the space to suit your needs I am very happy to work on line or via the phone, but I will try to accommodate where possible.

How do I pronounce your name?

It's pronounced "Loo-see-ah"!

When do you work?

I work most weekdays.  When I take holidays I will let you know these dates well in advance.

How long can I work with you?

Sometimes people need a short intervention to get back on track, and at other times we need many sessions to slowly unpack underlying issues.  There is no set minimum or maximum for how long you work with me; this is something we will talk about in our introductory session.

What are your qualifications and experience?

I have a Diploma in Integrated Counselling from Wealden Institute, and am a member of the BACP.  I have also worked as a counsellor for Lewes Low Cost Counselling, Care for the Carers, and therapeutically for Southdown.

I have over 20 years experience of working in education.
